The goal of this research was to improve the local effectiveness and safety of the cosmeceutical skin lightening
agent phenylethyl resorcinol (PR) by stabilizing it in a liposomal cream formulation. Soy phosphatidyl choline
(SPC), cholesterol (CHO), Tween 80 (TW80), and deoxycholic acid (DA) were combined with 2% PR to create the
liposome formulation, which was then injected using a modified ethanol injection technique. The optimal
formulation was determined by analyzing its physicochemical qualities, skin penetration, and cellular studies.
Vesicle size, polydispersity index (PDI), and zeta potential were 286.48.04 nm, 0.3170.03 and -39.203.85 mV,
respectively, for the optimized liposome formulation consisted of SPC:TW80:DA (84:16:2.5). The liposome
formulation has an EE of 93.550.05% for entrapping particles. This sphere-shaped vesicle maintained its
physicochemical integrity for a whole four months. After 24 hours, the skin permeation investigation found that
negatively charged liposomes deposited 1732.76 216.24 g/cm2 of PR into the skin. Liposome formulation was
shown to reduce melanin content in B16 melanoma cells and increase cell viability in HaCaT keratinocyte cells in
cell culture experiments. The physicochemical characteristics, stability, and skin penetration of the improved PR
liposome were studied after being mixed into a cream. In terms of skin penetration metrics and tyrosinase
inhibition, liposomal PR cream was shown to be superior than PR cream
